LEAVE A NOTE

Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003 - 6:11 p.m.

This past weekend was a huge party, that was basically an extended office party. Almost everyone from the office was there, and anyone they brough, and anyone that used to work there and still wanted to come, and some random people. It's an annual event. I'm told this one was smaller and less rowdy than usual, but it was still fun.

I've figured out though, that at parties when you are not drinking, as the party wears on it becomes a necessity to find other people who haven't drunk much. Otherwise, conversation is impossible to carry on.

But it was fun. I got to know a lot of my coworkers better and met some other cool people. And generally had fun.

Last night I joined in on a TV night. Saw the OC for the first time. I found it funny that the guy that was supposed to be the "nerd" was way cooler to me than the "cool" guy. Someone said something about hiim spending all of his time playing Magic, and he said "not as much" and I thought of Tillman.

Anyway, it's been a long and somewhat frustrating day. I've been trying for almost the entire week to get ahold of two guys for interviews (both pretty high up and hard to get in touch with type guys - producer and heads of companies), leaving messages and emails. and my editor keeps going "have you gotten to talk to them yet?" and then, "we really need that, we're already past deadline." as though I can control the hoops I have to jump through to talk to these guys or the fact that they don't respond. And part of me just wanted to go, "why didn't you think of this sooner!" since he only assigned to me 2 days ago. This is a mess up on his part, not mine, for thinking that one (such as I with no connections really) could just call and chat with these particular guys.

So, now I am going to go home and put in a CD. I now have many to listen to and see if I like thanks to Denver. And apparently to Patrick, although his motivation is less clear to me. (but thank you nonetheless to you both).

Anyway, to home (even though it doesn't mean away from work). I have transcription and some small writing assignments to catch up on this evening. But the cool thing is I can do it on my new desk. Hooray for cheap furniture that you can put together with a screw driver!
