LEAVE A NOTE

Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004 - 5:12 p.m.

A bunch of things on my mind today.

First. I remember being in Germany and thinking how weird the fashion was, especially the ugly ugly shoes. They were all pointy or square toed with bowling alley type material. I remember thinking "and the fashion is supposed to come from here isn't it? thank goodness I got my sneakers from home." And guess what I'm seeing now here in stores; ugly square pointed shoes.

Some days I get really tired of having to deal with being a female. It bugs me that it's even still an issue.

Yesterday I had to deal with one of my coworkers telling me that a double standard for teenage girls and boys made sense. When I asked him why, attempting to have intelligent conversation, he didn't even have a godo reason, just "that's what I think and I'm sticking to it." So, what does another guy do, supply a reason. This always happens. Whenever I question their male superiority complexes and one guy can't support it another guy comes to his rescue.

And then, top it all off. I walked into the lobby on my way to the candy machine (needed chocolate at that moment and to get away before I exploded) the mail guy stopped me because he needed someone to sign for something and the receptionist was not there. But the thing is there were some guys around and I could tell that he just assumed that I was a secretary or something.

I've been thinking about how we different friends for the different aspects of ourselves.

And there's one more reason to hate our president. He's supporting an attempt to make a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. I like what comic writer Peter David said "I don't understand how anyone--including Bush--can advocate a ban on gay marriage. And Kerry's no different. "Let's have civil unions instead." Because separate but equal is a time honored tradition in bias, and apparently gays are the new Negros." Definately read the rest of his opinion on this at peterdavid.net, the February 24 entry. He says a lot more good stuff.

Oh, and some quizzes. We all love these.

You're Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!

by Lewis Carroll

After stumbling down the wrong turn in life, you've had your mind

opened to a number of strange and curious things. As life grows curiouser and curiouser,

you have to ask yourself what's real and what's the picture of illusion. Little is coming

to your aid in discerning fantasy from fact, but the line between them is so blurry that

it's starting not to matter. Be careful around rabbit holes and those who smile to much,

and just avoid hat shops altogether.
