Saturday, May. 29, 2004 - 5:28 p.m. The other day at work there was this heavy set couple in the candle shop. (One of my jobs is at a candle and accessory/furnishing store called The Glowing Candle). They had with them a child in a stroller. He did not really talk, but kept kind of whining and crying. And the husband would be like, "what's he want?" and the wife would go, "he wants the soda." and tip a huge big gulp size soda toward him so that he could fit the straw into his mouth. That was how he spent the rest of the time in the store, sipping cola through a straw. Then my coworker asked "so how old is he now?" and they replied "almost two." And I wanted to smack them both silly. Who gives a kid that isn't even two a humungous soda. And according to my coworker, they come in all the time and the kid always has sugary foods and drinks. Way to set your kid up for health problems and an unhealthy lifestyle. It seems like such a simple concept that really young children should only get sweets in moderation.
