Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 - 11:12 p.m. Overdue entry based on the weekend of October 1st, but the undertone of this entry is really things that make me love my boyfriend. Yes. I am this lame. So, October 1st, Friday was a going away party for one of the guys from Wizard. After working there for a little over a year he decided it was not for him and to head back to Miami. It was a laid back party thing. It was really nice. And part of what was nice about it was that when we got there and I sat down to play poker with some of the guys, Jairo decided he didn't like poker and wandered off to talk to people. And I love that. He'd come back every so often, smile, rub my back or something, ask if I wanted something to drink, and head back. And I had a lot of fun that night. I totally tricked the poker guys with my "poker face" which is completely the opposite of a real poker face. I just smiled a lot like I had something and they figured I did. And I got to see Jesse and Allison and offer my help if necessary/possible after the car accident (I didn't realize how bad it actually was - and I hope they actually take me up on it if they need help). And I'm glad I got to see Alex off. The next night was my friend Jason's birthday. We went to a pool hall in the city. This was also all kinds of fun. I met some of Jason's old friends (who rocked) and hung with some of my friends: Adam and Deirdre, Brad and Julia. Just nice. As you can see here I was content. And I like this one (Adam, Deirdre, Jason, Jairo and me) from right before we left. And what I liked about both of those things was that I was there with Jairo, who was sweet and affectionate without being possesive. And we were both free to hang out with other people or together. and at one point we were all talking about video games. And Jairo was smiling at me like I was amusing and I accused him of mocking me. He said "I don't mock you. I celebrate you." And he just says things like that....and means them. Says them off the cuff. They're not lines. And I feel overwhelmed and special. And this week me and him spent Wednesday having dinner with and watching Smallville with Jason. And that was just nice. I'm seeing my boyfriend start to become good friends with one of my very closest friends. And the next morning he got up at 3:30 to take me to the airport so I could go to TN for my sister's wedding (even though I told him repeatedly he didn't have to). And when I realized that I was missing my traveling bracelet (the one my sister gave me just before my trip to Germany "to keep me safe" that I've now worn every time I travel) I didn't have to prompt, he asked me I wanted him to turn around and look for it. He didn't tease me for my superstitiousness or anything. And we found my bracelet and got to the airport. And he was tired and didn't know his way and had a midterm that day, but for some reason it was important to him to do this for me. And I love him for it.
