LEAVE A NOTE

Saturday, Jun. 18, 2005 - 10:40 p.m.

I am in Miami. Iīm visiting a dear dear friend that Iīve not really spent a substantial amount of time with for roughly four years. And yet, comfort.

While I donīt think I would like to live in Florida...because it is so flat and there is a time called "hurricane season", it is very nice to be here.

We spent the day at Palm Beach, which is a few hours away. It seems to be quieter (Iīm told) and more family oriented than Miami beach. It was wonderful.

The sand is made of tiny shells, the water is blue green and the waves swish you back and forth. There are many different kinds of palm trees, something I didnīt really realize before. Some are short and fat, some are tall, some have spiky leaves and some are more whispy. And there are these other trees that look like 16 tiny trees wrapping around and climbing each other to form one giant tree with moss hanging from it. It looks like something from the jurassic.

And it is so relaxing to sit at the beach, covered in sunscreen and just listen to the water and the people, talk with friends, relax. Something I feel like I havenīt done in a really long time.

Later we went to a cuban restaurant because this area is so Cuban. The food was really good. There was some mashed green plantains that was fantastic!

All in all, Iīm glad to be here and glad I came. This has rekindled my desire to travel though. Itīs making me really miss it: the meeting new people, trying new things, seeing places and learning about them. I think if I donīt get to travel more I will always notice it as a void in my life.
